Hip Hop Diva Remy Ma Arrested On Suspicion of Attempted Murder

Female rapper Remy Ma appeared to be on the fast track to the top, is now under suspicion of attempted murder. The 26-year-old hip hop diva who’s real name is Remy Smith, turned herself in to authorities. According to sources close to Remy the police were looking to interrogate Remy in connection with a shooting of a young lady outside of a Manhattan nightclub.
An investigating officer told us that Mrs. Smith was arrested and charged with attempted murder, assault and criminal possession of a weapon.
According to sources who wish to remain anonymous, Remy and one of her close friends got into an argument. The argument led to the shooting which occurred Saturday evening. A call to the police reported hearing a gunshots. Once the police arrived on the scene, they found Remy’s close friend the victim, 23-year-old Makeda Barnes-Joseph who named Remy Ma as her shooter. Police found Remy’s vehicle crashed and abandoned about three blocks away from where the shooting occurred. Makeda was taken to the hospital and is reported to be in stable condition.
Remy’s manager announced Saturday that the rapper would be unable to make a statement and referred all inquiries to Remy Ma’s lawyer who had accompanied her to the police station in order to turn herself in.
The owner of the nightclub, Sash Tcherekoff, told sources that a security video tape revealed that the rapper and her friends, including the victim, were having a pleasant time before leaving the nightclub. Police indicate that the altercation occurred about a block away from the “Pizza Bar.”
The hip hop diva was nominated in 2004 for a Grammy, due to her part in the smash hit, “Lean Back” with the Terror Squad. Remy was also the winner o the 2005 BET “Best Female Hip Hop” award. Just last year, she released “There’s Something About Remy” as a solo artist.
